Overview
The "Lehrstellen-Galerie" is an event organized by ETH Zürich, providing young people with an in-depth insight into the wide range of apprenticeships available at ETH.
For the 2023 event, they wanted a website to serve as an advertisement and a place to gather information before attending the event.
Process
With the event scheduled to take place in four months, it was essential to have the website operational at least two months prior to ensure ample promotion time. This timeline required us to streamline our workflow and avoid any unnecessary delays.
To accelerate development, we established standardized guidelines for elements like font sizing and styling. These standards not only improved efficiency but also maintained consistency across the website, enabling us to work with greater speed and precision.
Prototype
We immediately dove into Figma to begin designing the website, leveraging the comments feature to efficiently gather and incorporate feedback from the client throughout the process.
Into Backend
While designing the frontend of the website in Figma, I also began setting up the WordPress backend. This process involved configuring essential plugins, themes, and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to support dynamic content.
These preparations streamlined the integration of our design and CMS, allowing for a smooth build in WordPress using Elementor Pro.
Final Visuals
The final design of the Lehrstellen Galerie ETH Zürich website is clean, inviting, and easy to navigate—perfect for showcasing ETH Zürich’s apprenticeship opportunities. The layout is simple and modern, with just the right balance of color, typography, and whitespace to make information easy to find and read.
High-quality images and consistent fonts give the site a fresh, professional feel, while clear buttons and calls to action make exploring the apprenticeships straightforward. Overall, the design reflects ETH Zürich's dedication to creating an accessible, engaging space for future apprentices.
That was an amazing experience for me. I not only improved my design skills but also gained valuable insights into backend development.
It was an opportunity to work within established guidelines and branding orientations, while still having creative freedom in our design choices.
"Arthur hat die Webseite für unseren internen Anlass «Lehrstellen-Galerie» erstellt. Er hat eigene Ideen eingebracht und die Webseite sehr gut gestaltet. Arthur war offen für unsere Wünsche und hat diese fach- und zeitgerecht umgesetzt. Die Webseite ist super geworden und wir freuen uns diese regelmässig nutzen zu können. Danke Arthur!"
